RESOLUTION NO. 2019-28 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS <br /> VERDES, CALIFORNIA, SETTING PRIORITIES FOR FILING A WRITTEN <br /> ARGUMENTS AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL <br /> ANALYSIS REGARDING A CITY MEASURE TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE GENERAL <br /> MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2019. <br /> WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Rancho Palos <br /> Verdes, California, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at which there will be submitted to <br /> the voters a ballot measure to consider adopting a proposed City Ordinance that would <br /> add Chapter 5.40, Hospitality Working Conditions, to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes <br /> Municipal Code; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS <br /> VERDES, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 9282(a) the persons <br /> filing an initiative petition may file a written argument in favor of the Ordinance, and the <br /> legislative body may submit an argument against the Ordinance. An argument shall not <br /> exceed 300 words in length. <br /> SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes the following member(s) of its body: <br /> Eric Alegria and Susan Brooks, to file, if desired, a written argument not exceeding 300 <br /> words regarding the initiative measure as specified above, accompanied by the printed <br /> name(s) and signature(s) of the author(s) submitting it, in accordance with Article 4, <br /> Chapter 3, Division 9 of the California Elections Code. <br /> SECTION 3. All arguments may be changed or withdrawn until Tuesday, July 2, <br /> 2019, by 5:30 P.M., after which no arguments for or against the City measure may be <br /> submitted to the City Clerk. <br /> SECTION 4. The arguments shall be filed with the City Clerk, signed, with the <br /> printed name(s) and signature(s) of the author(s) submitting it, or if submitted on behalf <br /> of an organization, the name of the organization, and the printed name and signature of <br /> at least one of its principal officers who is the author of the argument. The arguments <br /> shall be accompanied by the Form of Statement to be Filed by Author(s) of Argument as <br /> provided for in California Elections Code Section 9600. <br /> SECTION 5. That the City Clerk/Elections Official is directed to follow the format <br /> for ballot arguments provided in Sub-sections (d), (e), and (f) of Section 9282 of the <br /> Elections Code. <br /> Resolution No. 2019-28 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
