411 111 <br /> AN AGREEMENT FOR AN ADDITIONAL EXTENSION <br /> OF TERM OF THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR <br /> THE SOUTH BAY CORRIDOR STUDY PHASE III <br /> (IMPLEMENTATION) AND FOR THE INCLUSION OF <br /> THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 2nd day of <br /> March 1993, by and among the South Bay <br /> Cities, a group of cities consisting of the cities of Carson, <br /> El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, <br /> Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho <br /> Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills <br /> Estates, Torrance and Los Angeles, each of which is a municipal <br /> corporation, duly organized and existing under and by virtue of <br /> the laws of the State of California, all of which collectively <br /> shall be hereinafter referred to as "CITIES" ; <br /> RECITALS: <br /> A. The South Bay Cities, with the exception of the City <br /> of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and State of California <br /> have formed a transportation study team (South Bay Corridor <br /> Study Steering Committee) to develop a comprehensive, <br /> cooperative transportation plan to serve the transportation <br /> needs of the South Bay area. <br /> B. Phase I of the study comprehensively defined the <br /> transportation needs of the area, along with policy and <br /> guideline determinations. <br /> C. Phase II developed and analyzed alternative <br /> solutions, costs/benefits, environmental and community impacts <br /> and constraints with respect to common transportation problems <br /> in the South Bay Area, and established necessary data for a <br /> research base. <br /> D. Phase III developed implementation programs for <br /> recommendations contained in Phase II, recommended priorities <br /> of projects and developed means of financing for <br /> implementation. <br /> E. The term of Phase III was extended for an additional <br /> term of three years by Agreement dated September 10, 1981. <br /> F. By an extension of that Agreement, the parties <br /> extended the term until June 30, 1993. <br /> G. The parties desire to extend the term of Phase III <br /> for an additional five years. <br />
