BACKGROUND:
Each year, City Hall closes for the winter holiday break between December 24 and
January 1. Past practice has been to cancel the first meeting in January to allow for any
scheduled holiday travel plans that the Council, Staff, and residents might have.
DISCUSSION:
In 2026, the first meeting is scheduled for January 6. However, holding the meeting would
give Staff minimal time to prepare and post the meeting agenda packet as a result of City
Hall being closed for the holiday break. Furthermore, some City Councilmembers and
staff will be attending California Contract Cities Associations’ Legislative Tour in
Sacramento between January 5 and January 7, 2026. Currently, no items are scheduled
for the first meeting in January. Therefore, Staff proposes canceling the January 6, 2026
City Council meeting and reconvening at the next regularly scheduled meeting on January
20, 2026.
CONCLUSION:
Cancel the January 6, 2026 City Council meeting with the next meeting occurring on
January 20, 2026.
