AGENDA TITLE:
Consider accepting Gifts for Parks donations.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
(1) Accept Gifts for Parks donations, and direct Staff to prepare donor letters of
appreciation for the Mayor’s signature.
FISCAL IMPACT: The donations are included in the adopted budget for Fiscal Year
(FY) 2025-26 and will be offset by expenditures required for the intended purpose of the
donations. Any remaining donations will be tracked in the donation account until fully
expended.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
The City’s Gifts for Parks Program, established in 1982, provides a means by which
interested individuals, organizations, and/or businesses may contribute funds or
merchandise to enhance the City’s Recreation and Parks facilities and programs.
Donations, as prescribed by law, are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
The City has received a total of $2,850 in donations between October 1, 2025 and
December 31, 2025.
Tree Lighting Ceremony and Winter Events Donations
• Aleshire & Wynder: $2,000
• RGM LLC dba The Katherman Company: $150
• Stock Construction, Inc.: $250

PVIC Library Donation
• Thomas Leo Nichols: Hard copy of Master’s Thesis: California Shore Whaling,
1854 to 1900 by Thomas Leo Nichols
REACH Program Donations
• Kathleen & Roy Omoto: $150
• Naomi Nakata: $100
Maintenance Donation for the Britton Memorial at the Interpretive Center
• Jean Anne Britton: $200
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council accept all Gifts for Parks donations, and direct
Staff to prepare letters of appreciation to each donor for the Mayor’s signature.
ALTERNATIVES:
In addition to Staff recommendation, the following alternatives are available for the City
Council’s consideration:
1. Do not accept one or more Gifts for Parks donations.
2. Take other action, as deemed appropriate.
