AGENDA TITLE:
Consideration and possible action to accept 11 Gifts for Parks donations received
between April 1 and August 31, 2024.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
(1) Accept 11 Gifts for Parks donations received between April 1 and August 31, 2024;
and
(2) Authorize the Mayor to sign the donor letters of appreciation on behalf of the City
Council.
FISCAL IMPACT: Between April 1 and August 31, 2024, the City received $14,000 in
donations through the Interpretive Center Amphitheater Plaque program and $1,203 in
REACH Program donations. All donations are restricted for specific use, as determined
by the respective donation program guidelines.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
The City’s Gifts for Parks Program, established in 1982, provides a means by which
interested individuals, organizations, and/or businesses may contribute funds or
merchandise to enhance the City’s Recreation and Parks facilities and programs.
Donations, as prescribed by law, are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
The City received the following donations between April 1 and August 31, 2024:

Interpretive Center Amphitheater Plaque funds are deposited into a donor restricted
account to fund Pointe Vicente Interpretive Center (PVIC) educational exhibits focusing
on the natural and cultural history of the Peninsula. Funds also include the costs of
fabricating and installing the 6” x 8” bronze amphitheater plaques that will be displayed at
the outdoor Amphitheater behind the PVIC building .
REACH donations will be deposited into a dedicated REACH fund to cover the costs
associated with operating the REACH program. This program is administered by the
City’s Recreation and Parks Department and is designed to serve the social and
recreational needs of youth and young adults with developmental disabilities in the region.
Program includes activities designed to promot e independent living, fitness, social
interactivity, and community access.
City Council is requested to consider and take possible action to accept the donations on
behalf of the City. If accepted, donation appreciation letters will be sent to all donors
(Attachment A).
