AMG and Associates Inc (Change Order 091)City of Rancho Palos Verdes Department of Public Works 30940 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 (310)544-5252 CHANGE ORDER MEMORANDUM TO: RAMZI AWWAD, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS FROM: ALAN BRAATVEDT, SUNBEAM CONSULTING DATE: March 04, 2024 SUBJECT: LADERA LINDA COMMUNITY PARK CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER NUMBER: 91 (PCO 112R1) Description of Construction Change Order Change the storage building’s roll-up door electrical power source from single-phase to 3-phase. This change will provide the correct power source to the door operator and allow it to operate. Justification The original contract plans specify single phase power to the storage building’s roll up door. However, it was discovered during construction that the roll-up door’s operator motor required 3-phase power connections instead, requiring the above-described change to be made. Compared with single phase electrical connections, 3-phase electrical connections require the installation of additional wires. This equates to additional work (labor, equipment, and materials) not accounted for in the original contract plans or the contractor’s corresponding bid. Therefore, a change order needs to be issued to account for this additional work and associated additional cost. Cost Analysis A detailed breakdown of labor, equipment, and materials was provided by the subcontractor Cemas Inc for a total cost of $7,645.78. AMG listed the cost of $7,645.78 and added 7% Overhead, 1.5% Insurance, and 1% Bond markups for a total of $8,378.63. SunBeam has estimated the cost of this proposed work and determined that the proposed costs from AMG are within 1% of SunBeam’s estimated cost. SunBeam recommends that the City authorize the costs proposed by AMG. An analysis of the schedule impact of this work will be addressed for this work as part of a meet and confer process for overall completion of the project. This approach is consistent with the changes to the standard change order provisions as approved by the City Attorney.
