List of applicants (page A-1) BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: Recruitment began in April 2023 for two seats on the Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) due to two vacancies with an unexpired term ending in June 2026. The recruitment for the vacancies was advertised and posted according to City Council Policy No. 6. At the conclusion of the recruitment period on May 26, 2023, three applicants expressed interest. The City Council, as of this writing, will conduct interviews on June 6, 2023. Ballots listing the applicants for the City Council members to cast their votes will be distributed prior to the commencement of the City Council meeting on June 6. Staff will tally the votes, and in compliance with the Brown Act, the City Clerk will read each Councilmember’s ballot into the record at the meeting and declare the member appointed, by a majority vote of the City Council, to the commission. 1 CITYO RANCHO PALOS VERDES Chapter 10, Section 10.2, of the City Council Procedures Manual, provides as follows: “The Council must and will make appointments to citizen City boards, commissions, and committees pursuant to City Council Policy No. 6. Applicants may be interviewed by the Council at a public meeting and shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Council. All appointees serve at the pleasure of the Council.” ALTERNATIVES: In addition to the Staff recommendation, the following alternative action s are available for the City Council’s consideration: 1. Direct Staff to readvertise the recruitment to conduct further interviews at a future meeting. 2.
