COMMUNICATIONS
City Council Items: Deputy Director Silva provided an update regarding the July 20, 2021 City
Council meeting in which the City Council considered an appeal of a City Tree Permit application.
The City Council also received a presentation on the implementation of the City's Coyote
Management Plan and initiated code amendment proceedings to establish outdoor dining
regulations in the City's Commercial Zoning Districts. Deputy Director Silva also provided an
update on the appeal of development applications at 30137 Avenida Tranquila, 28160 Palos
Verdes Drive East and 30504 Palo Verdes Drive West.
Staff: Deputy Director Silva informed the Planning Commission that late correspondence related
to Agenda No. 2 was distributed prior to the start of the meeting.

2. SIGN CODE- REPEAL SECTION 17.76.050 AND REPLACE WITH CHAPTER 17.75 (SIGN CODE),
BOTH OF ARTICLE VII (DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION AND REVIEW) OF TITLE 17 (ZONING) OF
THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE (CASE NO. PLCA2021-0003): Citywide (AS)
Request: Repeal Section 17.76.050 (Sign Permit) of Article VII (Development Application and
Review)of Title 17 (Zoning)of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code and replace it with Chapter
17.75 (Sign Code) of Article VII (Development Application and Review) of Title 17 (Zoning) of the
Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code to update the City's standards for residential and non-
residential signage.
Senior Planner Seeraty introduced the draft sign code ordinance presented by City Attorney Gerli.
City Attorney Gerli presented the staff report with an overview of the proposed Sign Ordinance of
Title 17 Section 17.75.
Discussion ensued among Planning Commission Members and Staff.

The following members of the public addressed the Planning Commission: Mark Fredrickson
Chair Perestam closed the public hearing.
The Planning Commission asked addition questions about the proposed ordinance including
signs in parkways and existing commercial signs and discussion ensued among Planning
Commission Members and Staff.
