RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
(1) By majority vote of the City Council, appoint one member to the Civic Center
Advisory Committee for one special vacancy with an unexpired term ending in
June 2024.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Recruitment began in April 2021 for one seat on the Civic Center Advisory Committee
(CCAC) due to a special vacancy with an unexpired term ending in June 2024.
The recruitment for the CCAC was advertised and posted according to City Council
Policy No. 6. Additionally, Staff reached out to applicants for previous committee
recruitments. At the conclusion of the recruitment period on May 21, 2021, the City
received a total of three applications from residents interested in serving. These three
applicants previously applied for other committees but were not selected. No new
applications were received. The City Council will conduct interviews of applicants on
June 1, 2021 and will be asked to make the appointment that same evening during the
regular meeting.

Ballots will be distributed prior to the commencement of the City Council meeting on
June 1, 2021, listing the applicants for the City Council to cast their votes. Staff will tally
the votes and in compliance with the Brown Act, the City Clerk will read each
Councilmember’s ballot into the record at the meeting and declare the member
appointed to the CCAC.
