Resolution No. 2021-___ establishing parking restrictions on a portion of Diversey Drive (page A-1) BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: On February 10, 2021, the principal of Silver Spur Elementary School requested a parking prohibition along a portion of the south side of Diversey Drive to accommodate an expanded student drop-off and pick-up (loading) zone. The requested drop-off and pick-up zone would be located between the Basswood Avenue/Diversey Drive intersection to 430 feet west of the intersection. Public Works staff reviewed the request and agreed that a parking prohibition is appropriate to provide an expanded student pick-up and drop-off zone without impacting vehicular movement in the immediate vicinity. 1 Thus, Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached resolution (Attachment A) which would establish a parking prohibition to accommodate the student loading zone. If approved, signs will be installed stating: “No parking from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. school days only.” ALTERNATIVES: In addition to the Staff recommendations, the following alternative action s are available for the City Council’s consideration: 1. Direct Staff to revise the resolution for adoption at a future City Council meeting. 2. Do not adopt the resolution, thereby not establishing parking restrictions. 3. Take other action, as deemed appropriate. 2 01203.0005/715539.6 RESOLUTION NO. 2021-___ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING PARKING RESTRICTION BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:30 A.M.
