The prior Council contracted with a search firm to identify possible candidates for the position for you to interview. I know that all of you will use due diligence to arrive at the candidate that you feel is most qualified for this important position. There are many criteria that you will follow in order to determine who is best qualified and who your individual choice will be. I have had close contact with a number of our prior City Managers and I think we need someone who has the RPV residents interests at heart. Most of our recent City Managers were the complete opposite, they thought they knew better and were only building up on their own resumes. I hope that you will give close consideration to our Acting City Manager, Ara Mihranian. He is very well qualified and has worked under a number of prior RPV City Managers. He possesses something that no other candidate has, namely 20 years of experience with our City and he knows our City inside and out. In all of the dealings I had with him, I found him to be fair to our residents and had their interests at heart. You may say that Ara might be a good choice as City Manager, but with no City Manager experience and with a number of key positions to be filled, it would be difficult for him to survive in this environment. I don't agree. I look at it as an opportunity to make our City responsive to our citizens needs and not for outside interests. Many of my neighbors feel the same way, they would like to see Ara named our City Manager. 1 TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS CITY CLERK JANUARY 23, 2020 ADDITIONS/REVISIONS AND AMENDMENTS TO AGENDA Attached are revisions/additions and/or amendments to the agenda material received through Thursday afternoon for the Friday, January 24, 2020 City Council meeting: Item No. Closed Session Description of Material Emails from: Bill Patton; David Koch; Mickey Rodich; Marty Foster Respectfully submitted, L:\LATE CORRESPONDENCE\2020 Cover Sheets\20200124 additions revisions to agenda thru Thursday.docx From: Teresa Takaoka Sent: To: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 6:14 PM Nathan Zweizig; Enyssa Memoli Subject: FW: Ara Mihranian -----Original Message----- From: William Patton <billpatton21@icloud.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 5:48 PM To: CC <CC@rpvca.gov> Cc: Ara Mihranian <AraM@rpvca.gov> Subject: Ara Mihranian Council Members Ara is hardworking, diligent, and honorable. My experience in dealing with Ara has been that he is prompt, smart, efficient, and fair (considering all sides and constituents). Qualities our City Manager must have. Plus he knows RPV and he knows Staff and is best prepared to lead his people in meeting the City's challenges today and in the future. He deserves to be our next City Manager. Respectfully, David M. In my experience both as a resident and an EPC member, I have always seen him as very effective. His history and institutional memory of all things RPV, make him such a valuable asset to our city. RPV is facing many projects and challenges. Rather than spending time 'orienting' a newcomer, why not select Mr Mirhanian? His broad knowledge and experience in dealing with these projects and challenges will serve the city well. Thanks for your consideration in this matter. Best wishes Marty Foster Sent from my iPad 1
