Consideration and possible action to appoint City Council Members to
Intergovernmental Organizations, Associations and City Subcommittees for 2020
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
(1) Appoint the members of the City Council to the various intergovernmental
organizations, associations, and City Subcommittees for 2020; and
(2) Direct Staff to notify the various agencies of the City Council’s decision.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
City Council members represent the City in various intergovernmental agencies and
associations that consider policy and legislation that directly affects the City. Council
members also serve on City Council ad hoc and standing subcommittees. Assignments
to these organizations, associations, and committees have traditionally been made after
the annual City Council reorganization and selection of the Mayor in December of each
year.
Following the December 3, 2019 City Council reorganization, Staff sent the current list
of assignments to all City Council members so that each member would have the
opportunity to review meeting dates and times, along with any Form 700 economic

interest disclosure requirements. The meeting times and other criteria (Attachment A)
are attached for your reference. Additionally, attached is a draft (redlined and clean) of
the 2020 City Council assignments as suggested by the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem
(Attachments B and C). The Council may also consider adding, deleting, or modifying
assignments as deemed appropriate. After the appointments are made, Staff will notify
each of the agencies.
It should be noted that Associate Planner Robert Nemeth attends the LAX Community
Noise Roundtable meetings. Additionally, the City Manager and Deputy City Manager
attend Palos Verdes Peninsula Regional Law Enforcement Committee meetings with
the City Council delegates assigned to that committee.
