AGENDA DESCRIPTION:
Consideration and possible action to appoint City Council Members to
Intergovernmental Organizations, Associations and City Subcommittees for 2019.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
1) Appoint the members of the City Council to the various intergovernmental
organizations, associations, and City Subcommittees for 2019; and,
2) Direct Staff to notify the various agencies of the City Council’s decision.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
City Council members represent the City on various intergovernmental agencies and
associations that consider policy and legislation that directly affects the City. In
addition, City Council members serve on City Council Ad Hoc and Standing
Subcommittees. Assignments to these organizations, associations, and committees
have traditionally been made after the annual City Council reorganization and selection
of the Mayor in December of each year.
Following the December 4, 2018, City Council Reorganization, Staff sent the current list
of City Council Assignments (Attachment B) to all City Council members so that each
member would have the opportunity to review the meeting dates and times, along with
any Form 700 requirements. The meeting times and other criteria (Attachment A) are
attached for your reference. After the appointments are made, Staff will notify each of
the agencies regarding that decision.

It should be noted that a Rancho Palos Verdes resident, Elizabeth Sala, was
reappointed as the City Council delegate to the Los Angeles County West Vector
Control District at the meeting of December 4, 2018, with the term of office ending
December 31, 2020. A Staff member, Associate Planner Robert Nemeth, attends the
LAX Community Noise Roundtable meetings. Additionally, City Manager Doug
Willmore and Deputy City Manager Gabriella Yap attend the Peninsula Regional Law
Enforcement Committee meetings along with the City Council delegates assigned to
that organization.
