Subject: Terranea Conditions
Hi Ara,
Please have a power point slide available at the July 5 City Council Meeting which is a
map of the Coastal Commission's Area C in relation to the Alta Vicente and Three
Sisters Reserves. And, dig up the slide which shows the view corridors which the
Terranea proposal was required to accommodate.
The one foot high vegetation restriction was to preserve public enjoyment of ocean
vistas as were the height restrictions on the Terranea buildings. I am not convinced
that the birds need this little strip of land enough to warrant blocking this view corridor.
Heads up. You are going to need to justify your recommendation. ...S

Hello -
I just wanted to mention that per the rules of City Council meetings, appellants
have a total of ten minutes to speak, with a three minute rebuttal. (You can find
this information under the link entitled "How City Council Meetings Are
Conducted" on the website for tonight's meeting:

Please note that you may select one person to represent everyone and speak
for the full ten minutes, or you may choose to speak about three minutes each.
Please also note that whoever chooses to speak this evening still needs to fill
out a blue speaker slip prior to the start of the meeting at 7pm. Thank you and
please let me know if you have any questions.

Recruitment for Vacant Positions
Members of the City Council:
I am writing to request that you to direct city staff to proceed uninterrupted with the
recruitment of the four open positions described in Mr. Eric Mausser's memorandum for the
July 5 City Council agenda item.
As Mr. Mausser points out, the fiscal impact is minimal, the recruitment process is time
consuming at best, and all four positions are immediately necessary. Under these
circumstances, delaying recruitment due to concerns with the pension benefits of four
employees would serve only to confuse the petty with the principled while depriving the
community of a service level that it rightly expects.
Sincerely,
Don Richardson
