ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.2010-_,A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TAX-
DEFAULTED PROPERTY FROM THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR
LOCATED AT 30940 HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD IDENTIFIED AS APN 7573-002-
011,PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 8 AGREEMENT NO.2654.
DISCUSSION
On December 2,2008,the City Council authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign an
Agreement to Purchase Tax-Defaulted Property to acquire a 0.04-acre vacant parcel
located adjacent to the Civic Center/Upper Point Vicente Park property at 30940
Hawthorne Boulevard.The subject property,identified as Assessor's Parcel Number
7573-002-011,is a small remainder parcel located adjacent to Hawthorne Boulevard
between the main entrance to the Civic Center and the entrance to the Salvation Army
property to the east.Acquisition of the parcel is desirable in order to complete the Alta
Survey and obtain title insurance for the Civic Center property.On December 11,2008,
the City submitted the necessary paperwork associated with Chapter 8 Agreement No.
2654 to the County.
On August 31,2010,staff was notified that the Chapter 8 Agreement became effective
on August 26,2010,thereby requiring the City to submit payment of $6,946.07 for the
property by September 13,2010.One of the requirements to complete the transaction
is a City Council resolution authorizing the purchase of the property.A draft resolution
is attached for Council's consideration.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TAX-DEFAULTED PROPERTY FROM THE LOS
ANGELES COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR LOCATED AT 30940 HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD
AND IDENTIFIED AS APN 7573-002-011 PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 8 AGREEMENT NO.
2654
WHEREAS,on December 2,2008,the City Council authorized the Mayor and City Clerk
to enter into an Agreement to Purchase Tax-Defaulted Property with the Los Angeles County
Tax Collector for the purchase of a 0.04-acre vacant parcel located adjacent to Hawthorne
Boulevard,between the main entrance to the Civic Center/Upper Point Vicente Park property
and the main entrance to the Salvation Army to the east;and,
WHEREAS,on December 11,2008,the City submitted the paperwork associated with
Chapter 8 Agreement No.2654 to the County of Los Angeles Treasurer and Tax Collector for
the purchase of the property identified as APN 7573-002-011;and,
WHEREAS,the City was recently informed by the County that the City Council's
resolution must reference the subject property's Assessors Parcel Number.
NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND,DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1:That the City of Rancho Palos Verdes is developing a Civic Center Master
Plan for the property located at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard.
Section 2:That public ownership of the property known as APN 7573-002-011 by the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes,which is located adjacent to 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard,would
provide clear title and simplify the Record of Survey that is being prepared for recordation for
the entire Civic Center/Upper Point Vicente Park property.
