RPVCCA_CC_SR_2011_11_15_C_NOC_Annual_Sidewalk_Repair_ProgramCITY OF MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: REVIEWED: HONORABLE MAYOR &CITY COUNCIL MEMB TOM ODOM,DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WOR~~"" NOVEMBER 15,2011 NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE FY2010-2011 ANNUAL SIDEWALK REPAIR PROGRAM CAROLYN LEHR,CITY MANAGER 09- Project Manager:Nicole Jules,Senior Engineer -{'t ro RECOMMENDATION 1.Accept the work as complete. 2.Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the L.A.County Registrar- Recorder Office and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation,and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond,notice the surety company to exonerate the Payment and Performance bonds. 3.Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 10%retention payment in the amount of $9,495.12 to Rafael 26 Construction,Inc.35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the L.A.County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project,and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. BACKGROUND Every year,the City implements a sidewalk repair project as part of its sidewalk repair program.This current project included repair work of damaged sidewalk in over 100 locations throughout the City. C-1 DISCUSSION The project's scope included demolition of uplifted concrete sidewalk panels,root trimming, installation of root barrier,and pouring of new concrete panels.A few locations also included curb and gutter and driveway apron repair work. Table 1 -Project Cost Summary Authorized Contract Amount Authorized Contingency Budget Total Construction Budget Change Orders Actual Construction Cost $87,520.00 $8,752.00 $96,272.00 $7,431.20 $94,951.20 The project was successfully completed as per the approved plans and specifications with minor site adjustments made according to conditions in the field and to maximize the number of areas repaired within the constraints of the project budget.The project was completed under budget,yielding a net project savings of $1 ,320.80 CONCLUSION Rafael 26 Construction,Inc.has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications.Therefore,the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed. FISCAL IMPACT The recommended action will have no fiscal impact.
