DISCUSSION
On July 19,2011,the City Council adopted the Planning Commission's recommendation to
preserve the existing code language regarding the temporary banner program, with the
addition that 1)a maximum number of banners at each area at any given time be limited to
two on a first come, first served basis, and 2)that Staff identify new locations for the
placement of temporary banners. On September 1,2011,a public notice was sent to
property owners within 500 feet of the proposed new locations, interested parties, and
previous applicants for temporary banners.
Due to a change in the City Council agenda relating to the employee pension issue,Staff is
recommending that this public hearing item be continued to the October 4,2011 meeting.
