DISCUSSION On December 20 and 21,2010,staff notified the members of the City's Advisory Boards that it was time to consider the appointment of a new Chair to the respective boards.The current Chairs of the five City Advisory Boards were appointed on the following dates: Advisory Board Current Chair Date Appointed PlanninQ Commission Bill Gerstner March 2,2010 Finance Advisory Committee Bill James April 6,2010 OversiQht Committee Frank Lyon February 16,2010 Traffic Safety Commission Lynn Swank February 16,2010 Emergency Preparedness Committee Tim Weiner February 16,2010 The Advisory Board members listed below have expressed an interest in serving as Chair of the following boards for 2011. Planning Commission David Tomblin Paul Tetreault 10-1 City Advisory Board Chairs January 18,2011 Page 2 of2 Finance Advisory Committee Bill James Oversight Committee Frank Lyon Traffic Safety Commission David Kramer Emergency Preparedness Committee Tim Weiner Earlier this evening Council conducted interviews of the two candidates interested in serving as Chair of the Planning Commission.Staff has also prepared a ballot for the Council's use in the selection of Chair of the Planning Commission. As only one member from each of the four remaining Advisory Boards has indicated a desire to be considered as Chair of the respective board for 2011 ,staff suggests that Council forego the interview and consider the appointment of the following members to the following boards:Finance Advisory Committee -Bill James;Oversight Committee- Frank Lyon;Traffic Safety Commission -David Kramer;and Emergency Preparedness Committee -Tim Weiner. 10-2
