CrrvOF MEMORANDUM RANCHO PALOS VERDES CAROLYN LEHR,CITY MANAGER Nicole Jules,Senior Engineer 1\f() TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: REVIEWED: Project Manager: HONORABLE MAYOR &CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS JIM HENDRICKSON,INTERIM DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS SEPTEMBER 4,2012 NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE VISTA GRANDE CDBG ADA COMPLIANT PROJECT(SUPPORTS 2012 CITY COUNCIL GOAL #4 PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE CITYWIDE STREET MAINTENANCE) 0SL RECOMMENDATIONS 1.Accept the work as complete. 2.Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the L.A.County Registrar- Recorder Office and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation,and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond,notice the surety company to exonerate the Payment bond. 3.Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 5%retention payment in the amount of $1,740.40 to Mora's Equipment &Construction 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the L.A.County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. BACKGROUND The City of Rancho Palos Verdes (RPV)has participated in the Los Angeles Urban County's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)Program since 1986.The program funds local community development projects that meet national objectives.The Vista Grande Access Ramps -ADA Compliance project meets the objectives of the CDBG eligible activities and has been adopted by City Council as an approved project. H-1 DISCUSSION The project scope included construction of six handicap access ramps,sidewalk,curb and gutter repair and signing and striping modifications.The project improvements upgraded the existing right of way conditions near Vista Grande Elementary School to be ADA accessible and compliant. Table 1 -Project Cost Summary Authorized Contract Amount Authorized Contingency Budget Total Construction Budget Change Orders Actual Construction Cost $33,770 $3,377 $37,147 $0 $33,067.60 The project was successfully completed as per the approved plans and specifications. Additionally,the project was completed under budget without utilization of the approved project contingency,yielding a net project savings of $4,079.40 CONCLUSION Mora's Equipment and Construction has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications.Therefore,the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed. FISCAL IMPACT The recommended action will have no fiscal impact.
