Accept the work as complete . 2 . Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the L.A. County Registrar- Recorder Office and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Performance bond. 3 . Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 5% retention payment in the amount of $5,286 .25 to Victor Concrete 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the L.A. County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project, and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. BACKGROUND The City of Rancho Palos Verdes (RPV) has participated in the Los Angeles Urban County's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program since 1986. The program funds local community development projects that meet national objectives . The Blackhorse Road (Phase II) -ADA Compliance project meets the objectives of the CDBG eligible activities and has been adopted by City Council as an approved project. D-1 DISCUSSION The project scope included relocation of an existing Metro bus stop, construction of additional sidewalk, and removal and reconstruction of a new wall. The project improvements upgraded existing right of way conditions along Hawthorne Blvd near Blackhorse Road to improved public transit accessibility for the elderly and severely disabled . On July 15, 2014, the City Council authorized Change Order No. 1, which approved modifications to the project, resulting in a concrete masonry unit (CMU) block wall with a Palos Verdes stone fagade. The Blackhorse Road neighborhood was very pleased with the final look of the wall. "Before-and-After" photos are included as an attachment. Table 1 -Project Cost Summary Authorized Contract Amount for Phase II $38,000.00 Authorized Contingency Budget for Phase II $4,000.00 Total Construction Budget for Phase II $42,000.00 Change Orders for Phase II $69,000.00 Actual Construction Cost for Phase II $110,425.00 Project Savings for Phase II $575.00 The project was successfully completed as per the approved plans, specifications and approved change order. Additionally, the project was completed within the approved authorization, yielding a net project savings of $575. CONCLUSION Victor Concrete has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Therefore, the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed.
