RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: (1)Accept the work as complete; (2)Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’sOfficeand, if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Performance Bond; and, (3)Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the retention payment to American Asphalt South, Inc.,35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion, contingent upon no claims being filed on the project and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. The scope of this work includes slurry seal treatment of all roads in Area 7.The following table summarizes the project costs: 1 Construction Contract Award Amount$ 1,404,458.64 Construction Contingency$ 140,445.36 Total Authorized Construction Budget$ 1,544,904.00 Total Construction Contract Costs$1,414,699.93 The project was successfully completed on February 27, 2018, byAmerican Asphalt South, Inc. in accordance with the specifications and within budget.Therefore, Staff recommends acceptingthe project as complete and filinga Notice of Completion with the Los AngelesCounty Registrar-Recorder’sOffice. If no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, the City will release the retention payment,and, upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notifythe surety company to exonerate the Performance Bond.
