Accept the work as complete. 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the L.A. County Registrar - Recorder Office and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Performance bond. 3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 5% retention payment in the amount of $139,858.95 to All American Asphalt 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the L.A. County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project, and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. BACKGROUND Every two years, the City implements an arterial street rehabilitation project as part of its street improvement program. This current project extends along Palos Verdes Drive East (PVDE) from the City's northerly boundary with the City of Rolling Hills Estates near Conestoga Drive to approximately 150 feet south of Vista Del Mar. The most southern portion of PVDE was paved as part of the San Ramon Landslide Stabilization Project. When this FY11-12 arterial street rehabilitation project is completed, 90% of the City's arterial roadways will be in good to excellent condition. 1 W The project's scope included roadway rehabilitation consisting of removal of failing asphalt concrete and base material and replacing it with full -depth asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete grinding, asphalt rubberized hot mix overlay, microsurfacing, installation of ADA -compliant curb access ramps, visibility improvements, removal and replacement of damaged asphalt concrete sidewalk, tree root pruning, tree removal and trimming, replacement of damaged or faded traffic signs, and replacement of existing striping and pavement markers. After commencement of construction and at the request of the community, the City Council on June 17, 2014 approved a revision to the project plans that eliminated shoulder widening between Via Frascati and Via Subida, resulting in the protection of 22 trees. This change in scope resulted in a significant reduction to the construction cost. All American Asphalt completed the project on time and within budget, yielding a total net savings of $132,741.15. Table 1 summarizes the project costs.
