FROM: CARLA MORREALE, CITY CLERK `
DATE: MAY 19, 2015
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
COMMITTEE
REVIEWED: DOUG WILLMORE, CITY MANAGER ow
RECOMMENDATION
Appoint two members to the Emergency Preparedness Committee, each with a four
year term of office, or until a successor is appointed.
DISCUSSION
On March 17, 2015, the City Council approved the expansion of the membership of the
Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) from five to seven members. On March
23, 2015, the City Clerk's Office began the recruitment for the two new seats on the
EPC. The recruitment was advertised and posted according to City Council Policy No.
6 with the recruitment period ending on April 24, 2015. At the end of the recruitment
period, the City received a total of four applications from residents interested in serving
on the EPC.
On May 5, 2015, the Council conducted interviews of the candidates between 6:00-7:00
p.m., prior to the regular Council Meeting. Since Councilman Duhovic was not present
for the interviews, the item was continued to provide Councilman Duhovic with the
opportunity to contact each of the applicants individually. A list of the applicants for the
EPC is attached to this report for Council's information. Staff has prepared and will
distribute ballots listing the candidates for the Emergency Preparedness Committee so
that the Council can appoint members to that Board at the Council meeting. In
compliance with the Brown Act, the City Clerk will read each Council Member's ballot
into the record at the meeting.
