Meet Our New City Manager
City Manager Willmore introduced himself and his wife, Annette English, and
provided brief comments regarding his background. He explained that he works
1
for the City Council and his role in that capacity is to implement the vision of the
City Council as effectively and efficiently as possible. He noted the importance of
preserving the charm, slower pace, and beauty of all that represents the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes. He noted the City staff would continue to focus on the
following important components: making a safe community even safer; striving
to be the best at those things the City does at all times; achieving the standard of
"excellent" in customer service; preserving the way of life in the City while
continuing to meet the challenges of discovery; and, maintaining and upgrading
the City's aging infrastructure.
City Manager Willmore noted that humans are 99.9% the same, yet the tendency
can often be to focus on the .1% of differences. He emphasized the importance
of focusing on communication, agreeing to disagree on some issues, and
progressing with positive efforts on those things that unite us in a common
cause, instead of dwelling on the differences.
City Manager Willmore provided answers to a few audience questions regarding
his management style and the state drought. He concluded that he has an open
door policy, loves to hear from the citizens of Rancho Palos Verdes, and
welcomes feedback and new ideas, noting that he has a lot to learn about the
community.
