RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Accept the project as complete.
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the project with the County
Recorder, and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, authorize the
release of the Performance Bond.
3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the project retention, 35 days after
recordation of the Notice of Completion by the County Recorder contingent upon no
claims being filed on the project bond.
BACKGROUND
The recently completed Council Chambers interior improvements provide the optimum setting for
videotaping of the City Council and Planning Commission meetings, as well as making the multi-
purpose room renovation a place for the public to use for classes or other activities.
DISCUSSION
The improvements completed at the Council Chambers consist of furred -out walls, new paint,
carpet, room lighting, specialized video filming lights, new video projection screens and
audiovisual equipment including hearing loops to assist the hearing impaired.
The improvements provide a uniform and smooth background for high quality videotaping.
The two retractable screens placed at the ceiling allow for the audience and City Council to
view presentations. Individual monitors installed for City Council members and Staff allow for
an optional viewing experience of the presented materials, enhancing City Council ability to
see small presentation details. The room is now equipped with an ADA compliant system
called a "Hearing Loop", designed to enhance the audio experience of persons who wear
hearing aids or need amplified sound to hear the meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT
The final construction cost for the project, which was completed $1,179.82 under budget, is
presented in the following table:
