RPVCCA_CC_SR_2015_03_17_01_Appointment_of_IMAC_MemberCITY OF t RANCHO PALOS VERDES MEMORANDUM TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COU CIL MEMBERS FROM: CARLA MORREALE, CITY CLER�j�)a',-, DATE: MARCH 17, 2015 SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER TO FILL A VACANCY REVIEWED: DOUG WILLMORE, CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION Make an appointment to the Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of John Colich; said term of office until December 2016. DISCUSSION On July 15, 2014, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2014-45, establishing the Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee. The City Clerk's Office conducted a recruitment which ended on August 15, 2014 and the Council appointed seven members (from a total of 16 applicants) to the IMAC on October 21, 2014. On February 11, 2015, the City Clerk's Office received notification from Mr. Colich that he would be resigning from his position on the IMAC to avoid any conflict of interest issues that may arise since he planned to bid on future public works projects. On February 17, 2015, the City Council authorized a modified recruitment for two weeks, with the legally required postings, in accordance with GC Section 54974, at City Hall, Hesse Park, Ladera Linda and the Main Library (Peninsula Center); and directed the City Clerk to reach out to the applicants on the original IMAC Applicant List to inquire if they were still interested in serving on the Committee. 1-1 Appointment of IMAC Member to a Vacancy Page 2of2 March 17, 2015 At the end of the recruitment on March 6, 2015, the following residents from the original list of applicants expressed interest in serving on the IMAC: Praveen Gattu Krista Johnson Chuck Tucker Leann Twidwell In addition, two new applications were received from the following residents: Barry Rondinella Don Swanson Earlier this evening, the Council held an adjourned meeting for the purpose of conducting interviews of new IMAC applicants only, since the interviews of all other applicants were held fairly recently. Mr. Rodinella was interviewed this evening, while Mr. Swanson, who was not available due to a prior commitment, contacted each of the Council Members individually by email and phone. Staff has prepared and will distribute ballots listing the candidates for the Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee so that the Council can appoint a member to that Board to fill the vacancy. In compliance with the Brown Act, the City Clerk will read each Council Member's ballot into the record at the meeting.
