RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: (1) Approve the preliminary cost estimate and implementation schedule for a digital occupancy sign and overnight parking restriction signs at the entrance to Park Place, and direct Staff to move forward with procurement. Option 3 restricts overnight parking at Del Cerro Park and Option 5 installs a digital space inventory sign at the entrance to Del Cerro Park at Park Place. Council directed Staff to return with details of the cost and implementation schedule for these options. Option 3 — Restrict Overniaht Parkina at Del Cerro Park NO Cost: $75/sign OVERNIGHT Schedule: Installed by December 1, 2016 PARKING VEHICLES Overnight parking is currently restricted at all City Parks per the WILL BE City's Municipal Code Section 12.16.030. Installing signs (see TOWED AT sample at right) with high reflectivity will advise and inform OWNER'S motorists of the restriction and allow for improved enforcement. EXPENSE It will take approximately two weeks for the signs to be fabricated and installed at total cost of $150 for two signs. 1 tion 5 — Install a diaital occuaancv sign at the entrance to Del Cerro Park Cost: $15,000 -$20,000 (depending on exact design) Schedule: Installed by January 1, 2017 The 17 existing parking spaces at Del Cerro Park can be monitored with a digital occupancy sign that displays the available parking spaces at any given time with a low- level LED illuminated sign to aid motorists in navigating on Park Place. This sign takes the guesswork out of finding a place to park by displaying the available number of spaces. The sign will complement the aesthetics of Del Cerro Park and the surrounding area by having exterior finished like Palos Verdes stone to blend -in with the unique character of the neighborhood (see rough sketches below). ALTERNATIVES: In addition to the Staff recommendation, the following alternative actions are available for the City Council's consideration: 1.
