Consideration and possible action to appoint Chairs to the City's Advisory Boards.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
(1) Appoint Chairs to the six City Advisory Boards: Emergency Preparedness
Committee, Finance Advisory Committee, Infrastructure Management Advisory
Committee, Planning Commission, Storm Drain User Fee Oversight Committee,
and Traffic Safety Committee.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
In February 2017, Staff notified the members of the City's Advisory Boards that it was
time to consider the appointment of a new Chair to their respective boards. The current
Chairs of the six Advisory Boards were appointed on the following dates:

Since only one member from each of the first four Advisory Boards has indicated a
desire to be considered as Chair of that board for 2017, Staff suggests that the City
Council forego interviews and consider the appointment of the following:

The following two candidates are interested in serving as Infrastructure Management
Advisory Committee (IMAC) Chair: Jon Spain and Kelvin Vanderlip. Mr. Spain and
Mr. Vanderlip were interviewed earlier this evening.
The following two candidates are interested in serving as Emergency Preparedness
Committee (EPC) Chair: Joe Locascio and Diana Feinberg. Mr. Locascio and
Ms. Feinberg were interviewed earlier this evening.
Staff has prepared and will distribute ballots listing the candidates at tonight's City
Council meeting.
ALTERNATIVE
In addition to the Staff recommendation, the following alternative action is available for
the City Council's consideration:
If the City Council prefers to interview those sole applicants interested in
serving as the Chair to their respective boards before deciding upon their
appointments, Staff can arrange interviews of each of the applicants with
the full City Council, at a future date to be determined.
