Due to higher levels of activity, especially in the Switchback area, Staff is requesting additional Supplemental Traffic Enforcement Patrol, primarily on Crest Road, PV Drive South, and PV Drive East. The Sheriff's Department has proposed a supplemental traffic enforcement program that will begin Saturday December 10, 2016. The program will run from December 10, 2016, through June 30, 2017. The operation will begin on Saturday December 10, 2016, from 0600-1400 hours. The operation will continue each Saturday and Sunday through June 25, 2017, with exception of December 24tH 25tH 31St, and January 1St. The normal working hours for this operation will be from 0600-1400; however, the hours will remain flexible to maximize our enforcement efforts. If a shift is missed, it can be made at a later date, ensuring maximum coverage throughout the operation. The traffic office will work closely with City Staff and residents to increase the overall effectiveness of the entire program. High visibility and compliance with traffic regulations will be the main goal of this operation. This will result in a safer environment for everyone traveling through the city of Rancho Palos Verdes. The total estimated cost for this operation is: $37,156.32 (432 hours x $86.01) 1 ALTERNATIVES: In addition to the Staff recommendation, the following alternative action is available for the City Council's consideration: 1.
