On March 14, 2016, recruitment began for the vacancy on the EPC, with an unexpired term of office ending January 6, 2019, or until a successor is appointed. The recruitment was advertised and posted in compliance with City Council Policy No. 6 and Government Code Section 54974, with postings at City Hall, Hesse Park, Ladera Linda Park, and the Main (Peninsula Center) Library; and legal ads published in both the Palos Verdes Peninsula News and Daily Breeze. At the conclusion of the recruitment, the City received a total of five applications from residents interested in serving on the EPC. 1 The Council conducted interviews of four of the five candidates on March 3, 2016. The fifth applicant did not show up for the scheduled interview, nor did he/she contact Staff. A list of the applicants interviewed is attached (Attachment A) to this report for Council's information. Staff has prepared and will distribute ballots listing the applicants so that the Council can appoint a member to the EPC to fill the vacancy. In compliance with the Brown Act, the City Clerk will read each Council Member's ballot into the record at the meeting. 2 List of Applicants for EPC Vacancy Jens Bechmann Matthew Brach Joe Locascio Burton H.
