A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING COASTAL
PERMIT NO. 121 TO ALLOW A 207 SQUARE FOOT MASTER
BEDROOM ADDITION; LEGALIZE A 138 SQUARE FOOT
UNPERMITTED LIVING ROOM ADDITION THAT
ENCROACHES INTO THE REAR YARD SETBACK, AND
RELOCATE A 530 SQUARE FOOT GARAGE THAT WILL
ENCROACH A MAXIMUM OF 11'-3" INTO THE REQUIRED
20'-0" FRONT YARD SETBACK AT 4150 MARITIME ROAD..
WHEREAS, the applicant, Ms. Suzanne Farman, has requested Coastal Permit No. 121 for
the proposed 207 square foot master bedroom addition, to legalize a 138 sq. ft. unpermitted living
room addition and to allow a maximum encroachment of 11'-3" into the required 20'-0" front yard
setback for a new garage; and.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act, (CEQA)
and local CEQA guidelines, the proposed project has been found to be categorically exempt
(Class II); and,
WHEREAS, after notice issued pursuant to the provisions of the Rancho Palos Verdes
Development Code, a duly noticed public hearing was held on April 12, 1994, at which time all
interested parties were given an opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That theg ranting of the Coastal Permit is in conformance with the Coastal
Specific Plan's policies for Subregion 6, since the residential activity, including improvements to
existing structures, is the most compatible use for the area.
Section 2: That the proposed development is in conformance with applicable public access
and recreation policies of the Coastal Act in that it will not have any impacts to the area's
provisions for public access and coastal recreational activities. There are no public access
corridors (existing or proposed) through or adjacent to the subject property.
Section 3: For the foregoing reasons and based on the information and findings included in
the Staff report, and records of the proceedings, the Planning Commission hereby approves
Coastal Permit No. 121 for additions to the residence located at 4150 Maritime Road.
