A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING AN
EXTENSION TO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 132 TO
ALLOW CONTINUED USE OF THE SITE BY VARIOUS
ORGANIZATIONS AT THE MIRALESTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
LOCATED AT 6245 VIA CANADA.
WHEREAS, On February 20, 1991, the Palos Verdes Unified School
District submitted a request to extend Conditional Use Permit No. 132
to allow the continued use of the site by Altamira Editions, Harbor
Foundation for the Retarded, Los Angeles Harbor College, Karen
Patterson Studio, Peninsula School of Performing Arts, and various
youth athletic organizations for a period of two years; and,
WHEREAS, the Discovery World Infant Center and Preschool is also a
permitted use on the site which is memorialized in P.C. Resolution No.
91-11; and,
WHEREAS, after notice pursuant to the City's Development Code, the
Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Palos Verde held a public
hearing on May 14, 1991 at which time all interested parties were given
an opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The site is adequate to accommodate the existing uses,
since the sit—eis 6 acres in size and the uses are not more intensive
than the previous elementary school uses.
Section 2: The site relates to streets and highways properly
designed to carry the type and quantity of traffic generated by the
use in that the site is bounded by Palos Verdes Drive East,
Via Canada, and Picardie Road which are public streets and there are a
total of 48 parking spaces are available on site which are adequate to
accommodate the approved uses on the site. ,
Section 3: There will be no adverse effect upon adjacent
properties as the project has been conditioned to mitigate any adverse
impacts, and the uses are similar to the previous elementary school
uses.
Section 4: The proposed uses are not contrary to the General Plan
since they provide valuable community services at a convenient location
and allow community use of the grounds and playing fields.
Section 5: For the foregoing reasons, and based on the
information and findings included in the Staff Report and records of
the proceedings, the Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes hereby approves an extension to Conditional Use Permit No. 132
subject to the conditions of approval in the attached Exhibit "A",
which are necessary to protect the public health afety, and welfare.

EXHIBIT "A"
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 132 -EXTENSION
1. All Conditions of Approval of the original Conditional Use Permit
No. 132 remain in effect and the applicant shall continue to
comply with all Conditions of Approval of P.C. Resolutions
No. 87-76 and 90-16.
2. No parking shall be permitted in the loading zone area located
between Building No. 5 and Building No. 1. This area is for
loading and emergency access only. Signs prohibiting parking
shall be posted and the pavement shall be striped and painted
"NO PARKING AT ANY TIME, PARKED VEHICLES SUBJECT TO TOWING AT
OWNERS EXPENSE."
3. This extension expires on May 14, 1993 unless a request for
extension is submitted to the Director of Environmental Services
prior to the expiration date.
4. This extension applies to all currently existing uses on the site
with exception to the Discovery World Infant Center and Preschool
which is subject to the Conditions of Approval contained in
P.C. Resolution No. 91-11.
5. This approval may be suspended by the Director of Environmental
Services if found in non-compliance with any of these conditions
of approval.
6. Within thirty (30) days of this approval, the landowner shall
submit, in writing, a statement that they have read, understand,
and accept all conditions of approval. Failure to provide such a
statement shall render this approval null and void.
