F.C. RESOLUTION NO. 90-29.
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING EXTREME
SLOPE NO. 21 FOR A DECK AT 30332 VIA BORICA.
WHEREAS , Dennis and Vicki Bruns requested an Extreme Slope
Permit to allow a new deck to extend a maximum of 6 feet over an
extreme slope at 30332 Via Borica.
WHEREAS , after notice pursuant to the City 's Development
Code, a public hearing was held on June 12 , 1990 at which time all
interested parties were given an opportunity to be heard and
present evidence .
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1 : That the site cannot reasonably accommodate the
structure in another location not involving an extreme slope due
to limited level yard space available on the property.
Section 2 : That the permit will result in no significant
adverse effect on the neighboring properties since the project as
conditioned is specifically designed to mitigate any visual
impacts and avoid impairment of views .
Section 3 : That there will be insignificant disturbance to
the slope as the deck will be cantilevered over the slope and the
natural grade will be left intact .
Section 4 : That the granting of such an approval will not be
contrary to the objectives of the General Plan in that it is
encouraging reasonable development of the property without
impairing the views of neighboring properties , creating any safety
hazards, or creating any negative visual impacts.
Section 5 : For the foregoing reasons, and based on
information and findings included in the staff report , minutes and
evidence presented at the public hearing, the Planning Commission
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby approves Extreme Slope
Permit No. 21 , subject to the attached conditions marked in
Exhibit "A" , which are necessary to protect the public health,
safety, and general welfare of the area.

EXTREME SLOPE PERMIT NO. 21
30332 VIA BORICA
1 . If substantial existing vegetation in the northwest side yard
is removed, then the applicant shall submit a landscape plan
to screen the view of the deck from surrounding properties .
Landscaping shall consist of drought tolerant , low
maintenance and erosion controlling plant materials. The
landscaping and irrigation plan shall be submitted prior to
building permit issuance and installed prior to building
final .
2 . On the north side of the deck a 6 foot solid wood fence to
match the existing fence shall be constructed. The other
sides of the deck may have an open guardrail .
4. The deck shall be maintained a medium brown color to blend in
with the existing deck and surroundings . The Director of
Environmental Services shall approve the finished color of
the deck and railings .
