PC RES 1988-015P.C. RESOLUTION NO. 88- 15
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING
VARIANCE NO. 191 FOR AN EXISTING DECK WHICH
ENCROACHES INTO AN EXTREME SLOPE AT 28611
PLAINFIELD DRIVE.
WHEREAS, Ara Issari and Steve Housang have requested a
variance for the existing deck over an extreme slope at 28611
Plainfield Drive; and
WHEREAS, after notice issued pursuant to the provisions of
the Rancho Palos Verdes Development Code, a public hearing was
held on March 8, 1988, at which time all interested parties were
given an opportunity to be heard and presented evidence;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That there are exceptional or extraordinary
circumstances or conditions applicable to the property involved
which do not apply generally to other properties in the same
zoning district; in that the deck has existed on the site prior to
incorporation of the City and is similar in size to what would be
permitted with an extreme slope permit.
section 2: That said Variance is necessary for the
preservation and enjoyment of a substantial property right of the
applicant, which right is possessed by other property owners under
like conditions in the same zoning district, in that the deck is
integrated into the overall rear yard design and is useable
outdoor open space available to enjoy the ocean view.
Section 3: That the granting of the variance is not contrary
to the General Plan.
Section 4: That the Variance will not have a detrimental
effect on the environment since the deck is small in size and is
of a color that blends with the natural environment.
Section 5: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning
Commission of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby approves
Variance No. 191.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED the 22nd day of March, 1988.
