RESOLUTION P.C. NO. 87- 47
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DENYING
VARIANCE NO. 162 AT 6902 PURPLE RIDGE DRIVE.
WHEREAS, Ms. Barbara A. Wood has requested a Variance for an
existing garage conversion to living space at 6902 Purple Ridge
Drive which will result in no enclosed vehicle parking on the
subject site; and
WHEREAS, after notice issued pursuant to the provision of the
Rancho Palos Verdes Development Code, a public hearing was held on
June 9, 1987 at which time all interested parties were given an
opportunity to be heard and present evidence; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Barbara A. Wood notified the Environmental
Services Department on June 25, 1987 that she did not receive
proper notification of the date of the public hearing; and
WHEREAS, after notice issued pursuant to the provision of the
Rancho Palos Verdes Development Code, a public hearing was held on
August 25, 1987 at which time all interested parties were given an
opportunity to be heard and present evidence;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That there are no exceptional or extraordinary
circumstances or conditions applicable to the property involved
which do not apply generally to other properties in the same
zoning district; in that the lot size, configuration and
topography is typical of the older terraced tracts in the same
zoning district.
Section 2: That said Variance is not necessary for the
preservation and enjoyment of a substantial property right of the
applicant, which right is not possessed by other property owners
under like conditions in the same zoning district, in that
additional living area can be developed in conformance with the
City's setback,'open space and grading requirements while still
maintaining two enclosed garage spaces.
Section 3: That approval of the Variance will cause
materially detrimental effects on surrounding properties, in that
there will be long term and possible cumulative effects on the
health, safety, and welfare of the surrounding property owners.
