RESOLUTION P.C. NO. 87- 31
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING
VARIANCE NO. 168 AT 1861 HOMEWORTH DRIVE.
WHEREAS, Mr. Olin Williford has requested a Variance for
existing accessory structures which encroach into required
setback and, in one case, exceed the 12 feet height limit at
1861 Homeworth Drive; and
WHEREAS, after notice issued pursuant to the provisions
of the Rancho Palos Verdes Development Code, a public hearing
was held on June 9, June 23 and June 30, 1987 at which time
all interested parties were given an opportunity to be heard
and present evidence;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the size, shape and topography of the
rear yard is smaller and has a more confined level area than
other lots in the same zoning district.
Section 2: That there are special circumstances that
unreasonably restrict the landowner's ability to develop the
lot in conformance with the City's development regulations
since the rear yard setback would require the accessory
structures to be located too close to the primary structure.
Section 3: That approval of the Variance will not confer
a special privilege on the landowner in relation to similarly
situated properties in the same zoning district in that the
accessory structures are normal appurtenances of a single
family residence.
Section 4: That approval of the Variance will not cause
materially detrimental effects on surrounding properties
since the structures are not located over slopes and will not
infringe on the privacy of the neighbors.
Section 5: That the Variance would not be contrary to
the General Plan.

Section 6: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning
Commission of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby approves
Variance No. 168 subject to the conditions attached in
Exhibit "A".

Conditions of Approval
•
Complete the following within 180 days from the date of this
decision:
1. Completely remove the staircase and railing from the
observation deck.
2. Submit plans for planning review for an enclosed
single car garage on the subject site.
3. Obtain planning and building permits for the bath
house, tool shed, patio cover and addition.
