A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES APPROVING TWO (2) MINOR AMENDMENTS (B & C) TO
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 37 FOR A TEMPORARY PARKING FACILITY AND
PERMITTING TWO (2) NIGHTS OF OVERNIGHT PARKING FOR MOTORHOME/
TRAILER GROUPS AT MARINELAND.
WHEREAS, Marineland has requested approval of Coastal Permit No. 10
for two (2) minor amendments to Conditional Use Permit 37 which would allow
a temporary overflow parking facility and two (2) nights of overnight parking
for self-contained motorhome/trailer groups;and
WHERERAS, Marineland is located at 6610 Palos Verdes Drive South, which
is in a Commercial Recreational Zone (CR); and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the request at the regular
meeting of November 13, 1984, at which time all interested parties were
given an opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The need for the temporary parking lot which will
accommodate 859+ automobiles was established by the daily attendance
counts and record of times the lot area was used since 1978.
Section 2: That the proposed activities are appropriate in a
Commercial Recreation Zone, subject to a Conditional Use Permit.
Section 3: That the property is adequate in size and shape to
accommodate both of the proposed activities.
Section 4: That the site is served by Palos Verdes Drive South, which
is classified as an improved arterial street and is designed to carry the
type and quantity of traffic generated by the facility.
Section 5: That the proposed projects will not result in any
significant effects on the subject property or adjacent properties or to the
permitted uses thereof. Further, that such uses have been found to be
categorically exempt under CEQA.
Section 6: That the proposed projects do not conflict with the
General Plan or Coastal Plan, which designate the site as being appropriate
for said uses.
Section 7: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning Commission of the City
of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby grants approval of two (2) minor amendments to
Conditional Use Permit No. 37 and approves Coastal Permit #10, subject to the
conditions found in Exhibit "A", attached hereto.

EXHIBIT A, RESOLUTION P.C. NO. 84-30
1. This Conditional Use Permit approval for the temporary parking facility
shall expire in two (2) years; however, said approval may be extended
upon request to and approval by the Planning Commission.
2. This Conditional Use Permit approval for the overnight parking of
self-contained motorhomes/trailers shall expire in three (3) years;
however, the Planning Commission may grant time extensions upon request.
3. The City shall be notified two (2) weeks in advance of date that
trailers/motor home groups would be staying at Marineland.
4. Overnight parking of trailer/motor homes shall be limited to a maximum
of two (2) nights each.
5. Dates of overnight stays shall be limited to four (4) per month.
6. The City shall be supplied with the name of someone supervising the
stay, and the name and origin of the group.
7. The overnight parking of trailers/motor homes shall be permitted from
Fall through late Spring. Such activity shall be prohibited during
the summer months, (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, inclusive).
