PC RES 1983-007RESOLUTION P.C. NO. 83-7
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DENYING AN
AMENDMENT TO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 26
AND RECOMMENDING DENIAL
WHEREAS, the Peninsula Racquet Club has applied for extended hours
of nighttime court lighting; and
WHEREAS, after notice required by the City's Zoning Ordinance,
public hearings were held on March 23 and April 26, 1983, at which time all
interested persons were given a full opportunity to be heard and present
evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That a six month trial period was established from July 1,
1982 to December 31, 1982 to monitor nighttime court utilization.
Section 2: That following the six month trial period the applicant
was unable to demonstrate that a significant need for extended hours of
nighttime court lighting existed.
Section 3: That the applicant was unwilling to test a possibly
effective method to reduce the impact of extended nighttime lighting.
Section 4: That if the request to extend nighttime court lighting
was approved it may cause conflict with the General Plan objective to preserve
views and the semi -rural character of the City.
Section 5: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning Commission of
the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby denies Amendment to Conditional use
Permit No. 26.
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 10th day of May, 1983.
