PC RES 1982-008RESOLUTION P.C. NO. 82-8 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING VARIANCE NO. 78 WHEREAS, Dr. Roy Smith has requested a variance to allow the construction of a storage addition to a maximum height of twenty (20) feet at 4000 Lorraine Road, Rancho Palos Verdes; and WHEREAS, after notice pursuant to the City's Development Code, a public hearing was held on May 11, 1982, at which time all interested parties were given an opportunity to be heard and present evidence. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND,, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That there are exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or conditions applicable to the property or to the intended use of the property, which do not apply generally to other properties in the same zoning district. Due to the location of the existing detached garage, the only feasible area for the storage addition is in the proposed location. Section 2: That this variance is necessary for the preservation and enjoyment of a substantial property right of the applicant, which right is possessed by other property owners under like conditions in the same zoning district since the addition's height is necessary for the function of the storage area. Section 3: That granting this variance will not be materially detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to property and improvements in the area in which the property is located since no significant view obstruction will occur due to the location of the addtion. Section 4: That granting this variance is not contrary to the objectives of the General Plan.. The addition will not significantly obstruct the adjacent residence's views. Section 5: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby approves Variance No. 78. APPROVED and ADOPTED this llth day of May, 1982. W.
