A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES GRANTING A
REVISION TO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 20
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ENTRANCE GATE
AT THE SALVATION ARMY FACILITY
WHEREAS, the Salvation Army has requested a revision to Conditional
Use Permit No. 20 to allow for the construction of an entrance gate to be
located on Crestmont Lane just north of Palos Verdes Drive South; and
WHEREAS, the Salvation Army facility is an educational use located
at 30840 Hawthorne Boulevard, which is in an Institutional zone (I); and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the request at the
regular meeting of July 24, 1979, at which time all interested parties were
given an opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the proposed improvements include motorized ingress/
egress gates, block walls, minor road widening and associated equipment.
Section 2. That the gate will be used only by residents of the
officers' quarters (approved by Conditional Use Permit No. 20), administrative
officers, maintenance personnel and emergency services personnel.
Section 3. That the proposed improvements are allowed in an Institu-
tional zone and are consistent with development standards found in the City's
Development Code.
Section 4. That the property is adequate in size and shape to accom-
modate the proposed entry gate.
Section 5. That the proposed improvements will not result in any
significant effects on the property or adjacent properties or to the permitted
uses thereof.
Section 6. That the proposed improvements are consistent with Condi-
tional Use Permit No. 20, the General Plan and the Development Code.
Section 7. For the foregoing reasons, the Planning Commission of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby grants approval to the revision=of Conditional
Use Permit No. 20, subject to the conditions found in Exhibit "A" which are
necessary to protect and preserve the health, safety and general welfare of the
area.

EXHIBIT "A"
The revision to Conditional Use Permit No. 20 is hereby granted subject to the
following conditions:
1. This approval shall expire within one (1) year unless the project
has been initiated.
2. Final site, grading, irrigation and landscaping plans shall be
approved by the Director of Planning prior to the issuance of con-
struction permits.
3. All work to be done in the public right-of-way shall be formally
approved by the Public Works Director. Further, the applicant
shall be required to coordinate with the Public Works Department
and provide an adequate waiting area for Rapid Transit District
bus patrons at the bus stop adjacent to Crestmont Lane.
4. All existing lighting and/or signs shall be shown on the plans, and
any future lighting and/or signs shall be shown on the plans as pro-
posed and shall be subject to approval by the Planning Commission.
5. Ptior to final clearance the applicant shall be required to submit,
in writing, a statement that the City or its agents shall not be
held responsible for any damage done to said gate in the event it
is damaged while entering the property for emergencies.
6. Prior to final clearance the applicant shall be responsible for
compliance with all conditions established in Resolution No. 77-01.
7. Within thirty (30) days of this date, the applicant shall submit a
written statement certifying that all of the above conditions are
understood and agreed upon.
