PC MINS 19920111\a,8/C� -�. MINUTES (�E) PLANNING COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 11, 1992 The meeting was called to order at 1:35 pm by Chairman Katherman at City Hall, 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard. PRESENT Katherman, Byrd, Clark, Hayes, Mowlds, Alberio, Lorenzen ABSENT None Also present were Acting Director of Environmental Services Carolynn Petru and Assistant Planner Fabio de Freitas. SITE VISITS A. SUBREGION 1, NORTHWEST CORNER OF PALOS VERDES DRIVE WEST AND HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD The Planning Commission drove onto the site from the gate on Hawthorne Boulevard to view the location of the California gnatcatcher territory, the proposed location of the bluff road, residential lots and open space corridor along the bluff top, which were all marked with colored flags. The Commission then drove to the northern boundary of the site, west of Berry Hill Drive, to view the existing wetlands area and the drainage course paralleling the north property line. Present at this location were Bill Gilmore (H.M.D.I.), Barna Szabo (Gold, Ring, Mark and Pepper) and Richard Lichtenstein and Howard Brown (Marathon Communications). B. TRANSAMERICA, SOUTHWEST CORNER OF PALOS VERDES DRIVE SOUTH AND YACHT HARBOR DRIVE The Commission met in the parking lot adjacent to the gatehouse and walked onto the site to view the existing drainage facilities on the bluff face, the proposed lot locations and the re -alignment of Yacht Harbor Drive. The Commission also inspected the boundary of the Landslide Moratorium on the west side of the site, which was marked with red flags. Present at the site were Lyman Lokken (Transamerica), Ron Kendricks (Kendricks & Assoc.), Bruce Arita (P/A Architects), Lee Anne Kirby (SWA). C. SUBREGION 7, SOUTHWEST OF PALOS VERDES DRIVE SOUTH AND LA ROTONDA DRIVE The Planning Commission drove onto the site at the gate on Paseo del Mar to view the proposed location for the western cluster of residential lots, the location of golf holes 2 and 4 which cross a natural ravine on the site and hole 5 which is located along the top of the bluff. The Commission drove across the site to view the School District property which currently being farmed. The Commission then parked on La Rotonda Drive and walked onto the eastern portion of the site to view Subregion 8 and its relationship to the subject property. Present at the site were Mike Mohler (Hon Development), Richard Lichtenstein and Cathy Connelly (Marathon Communications), Bill Ailor (Peninsula Land Conservancy) and Angelika Brinkman-Busi (California Native Plant Society) ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 pm.
