REGULAR MEETING
August 4, 1987
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Chairman Hughes.
PRESENT: RYAN, BACHARACH, McTAGGART, HINCHLIFFE AND CHAIRMAN HUGHES
Also present were Executive Director Dennis McDuffie, Finance Director
Kevin Smith, City Attorney Steve Dorsey, Director of Environmental Services
Robert Benard, Agency Secretary Jo Purcell and Public Works Director George
Wentz.
Member Bacharach moved, seconded by
Member McTaggart to approve the
Consent Calendar as follows :

AND SPECIFYING FUNDS FROM WHICH THE
SAME CAN BE PAID.
The motion to approve the Consent Calendar carried on the following role
call vote: .

REPORT FROM LANDSLIDE SUBCOMMITTEE Chairman Hughes presented an update
on the status of efforts to stabi-
lize the landslide. g, h With maps
mounted for audience viewine
described the movement prior to abatement efforts , the work done in the
slide area from June 19 , 1986 to July 8, 1987 which showed that the slide had
slowed and said that the latest survey indicated that the slide had slowed
substantially. He went on to say that the program to abate the slide is on
schedule and on target, that the slide is monitored daily and that all the
benchmarks are in place.

AUDIENCE QUESTIONS
Responding to the Chairman's call for audience questions was Jeanne Smolly,
56 Limetree, who inquired about reported land movement at the foot of
Crenshaw by the water tower and if action will be taken to move Palos Verdes
Drive South prior to settlement of the pending law suit.
With regard to the first question, staff responded that Dr. Ehlig had not
prepared a formal response to that issue since it was viewed as sloughing
off of surface material or cracking that had been previously hidden by
overgrowth.
Regarding the settlement of the case in question, the City Attorney said it
did not have a bearing on moving Palos Verdes Drive South but that the Agency
would be paying for property that would be impacted by the move of the road-
way.
RECESS TO CLOSED SESSION At 7:49 p.m. the Agency recessed to
closed session to be held at the end
of the City Council meeting. On
motion of Member Bacharach, said
session to be held pursuant to §54956.8 of the Government Code (Brown Act)
to discuss: 1) negotiations re certain property located in the Palos Verdes
Drive South right-of-way and formerly located at Lots 5, 6 and 44 in Block 4
of Tract No. 14118 and Parcels 26 and 31 of L.A. County Assessor's Map Book
7572, page 4. The listed owners of these properties are Mr. Shahin, Audrey
Cunningham, and Gene Frank. 2) Discussion of the County of Los Angeles vs .
All Persons (Case No. C530241) .
ADJOURNMENT: At 12:30 A.M. the meeting reconvened
on motion of Member McTaggart and
immediately adjourned.
