RDA MINS 19890516 MINUTES RANCHO PALOS VERDES REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY REGULAR MEETING MAY 16, 1989 The he meetin was called to order at 7: 30 P.M. by Chairwoman Bacharach, at Hesse Park Community Center, 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard. PRESENT: McTAGGART, HUGHES, HINCHLIFFE, RYAN AND CHAIRWOMAN BACHARACH City Attor ne y Calonne announced that a closed session had been held pursuant to Gov't Code Section 54956.9 (a) to confer with or receive advice from legal counsel regarding pending litigation as defined in said section. Pursuant to P g subdivision (a) a legal proceeding has been formally initiated the title of which is: Rancho Palos Verdes Redevelopment Agency Vs. Shahin, et al . APPROVAL OF AGENDA . Member Hughes moved, seconded by Chairwoman Bacharach and carried to approve the agenda as presented. MINUTES Adopted the minutes of April 17, 1989. budget work session, and the May 2, 1989 Regular Meeting on motion of Member Hughes, seconded by Chairwoman Bacharach and carried. RESOLUTION NO. RDA 89-11 Adopted RESOLUTION NO. RDA REGISTER OF DEMANDS 89-11 ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND SPECIFYING FUNDS FROM WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID on motion of Member McTaggart,rt seconded by Member Bacharach and carried on the following roll call vote: AYES: McTaggart, Hughes and Chairwoman Bacharach NOES: None ABSTAIN: Hinchliffe and Ryan REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY Executive Director McDuffie NEWSLETTER (1801 ) presented the staff report of May 16th and the recommendation to approve the proposal from Barbara L.K. Dye for the writing and layout of a City's Redevelopment Agency Newsletter. The Board inquired whether the proposed cost reflected the distribution costs; if the Executive Director should disseminate the news to the residents of the Redevelopment Agency area; the cost of this publication versus a letter from the Executive Director; and, if this was a sole source bid. Member McTaggart moved, seconded by Member Ryan to table consideration of this matter until there was a better idea of the costs involved. The motion failed on a three-two vote with Members Bacharach, Hinchliffe and Hughes voting in opposition. . Member Hinchliffe moved, seconded by Member Hughes to approve the staff recommendation at a not-to-exceed cost of $500. The motion carried on the following roll call vote: AYES: Hughes, Hinchliffe, Chairwoman Bacharach NOES: Ryan and McTaggart STATUS OF BOARD DIRECTIVES: The Board requested an update on the directive regarding the M.O.U. for the slide work and also requested that the status of the RDA Newsletter be placed on the list.
