SURPLUS PROPERTY (1900)
Executive Director Paul Bussey presented the staff memorandum of
March 2nd and the recommendations were as follows: (1) Determine
if the Redevelopment Agency is interested in selling the Seacove
Property and, is so, (2) Authorize staff to perform a title search
and, based upon information collected, direct staff to determine
the procedures required for the sale of the property and report
back to the Board.
Speaking as a private citizen Councilman Ryan explained that that
particular piece of property was a buffer that was provided for the
Abalone Cove Park and he suggested that the City Council look at
this property prior to making any decision on selling it. He
stated that the property has a steep ravine that leads to the Ocean
and cited the problems of building a home on that property because
it was contiguous into a public park.
Lois Larue, 3136 Barkentine Rd. , spoke in opposition to the selling
of this property.
Member Bacharach moved, seconded by Member McTaggart to receive and
file the report. Motion carried.
