RDA MINS 19900130 ADJ M I N U T E S RANCHO PALOS VERDES REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING, JANUARY 30, 1990 The meeting was called to order at 7: 30 P.M. by Chairman Hughes. PRESENT: McTAGGART, RYAN, BACHARACH AND CHAIRMAN HUGHES ABSENT: HINCHLIFFE Also present were Executive Director Dennis McDuffie, Deputy City Manager Mark Rohloff, Environmental Services Director Robert Benard, Public Works Director George Wentz, Agency Attorney Ariel Pierre Calonne, Agency Secretary Jo Purcell and Recreation and Park Director Mary Thomas. The Agency Attorney reported that the Board had held a closed session pursuant to the authority of the Gov't Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with or receive advice from legal counsel regarding personnel . APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member McTaggart moved, seconded by Member Bacharach and carried to approve the agenda. CONSENT CALENDAR The Consent Calendar was approved as follows on motion of Member Bacharach, seconded by member McTaggart and carried. MINUTES Approved the minutes of January 2 and January 16, 1990. RESOLUTION NO. RDA 90-02 Adopted RESOLUTION RDA 9.0-02 REGISTER OF DEMANDS ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND SPECIFYING FUNDS FROM WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID. The motion to approve the Consent Calendar carried on the following roll call vote: AYES: MEMBERS McTAGGART, BACHARACH AND CHAIR HUGHES NOES: NONE ABSENT: HINCHLIFFE ABSTAIN: RYAN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORTS: STATUS OF BOARD DIRECTIVES ROOF DRAINS (1801) The Board requested that the staff report on the actions to be taken to install the remaining gutters in the slide area. The Board also requested a report on legislative strategy for the Redevelopment Agency. AUDIENCE QUESTIONS: Responding to the Chairman' s call for audience questions was Lois Larue, 3136 Barkentine Rd. , who inquired about the type of material to be used in the storm drains near the Wayfarer's Chapel; questioned the lifespan of the gabions that had been installed along the coastline in the landslide area; and inquired about the building on the parking lot at Abalone Cove Beach. Additionally, Ms. Larue presented photos of the storm drain installed near the gabions at the end of Portuguese Canyon. Staff responded that the material used for the storm drain is acceptable by CalTrans. With regard to the gabions, staff stated it was not the intention that they would be a permanent solution to preventing wave erosion at the bluffs.
