CC RES 1973-003 RESOLUTION NO. 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR EFFORTS IN BEHALF OF INCORPORATION THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, on this 7th day of September, 1973, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes became incorporated as the 78th city in the County of Los Angeles, and the City Council of the new City of Rancho Palos Verdes has organized and is prepared to enter into its duties and responsibilitie as the newly created legislative body of the City; and WHEREAS, the incorporation of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and the installation of its newly elected officers represents the culmination of many years of effort and desire on the part of the citizens to achieve the benefits of local self-government and the objective of "home rule" so long sought by the citizens of this area; and WHEREAS, the achievement of this long sought objective was accomplished through the dedication, perseverance in the face of adver- sity and unstinting efforts on the part of many citizens and organizations within the City, and in particular through the leadership and support of the following organizations: Palos Verdes Peninsula Advisory Council; League of Women Voters; Save Our Coastline; Fourth City Campaign Committee; Palos Verdes Estates; Rolling Hills; Rolling Hills Estates; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the newly elected City Council express appreciation to the aforesaid organizations on the occasion of the installation of the City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, on the occasion of its installation as the first Council of the newly incor- porated City, in behalf of all of the citizens of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, hereby expresses its congratulations to the above-named organizations and to the other organizations and citizens of the Palos Verdes Peninsula who have so long fought for incorporation of the fourth city on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, for their success in achieving incorporation of this City, and further expresses the apprecia- tion of the citizens of Rancho Palos Verdes and of the newly elected officials thereof, for their dedication, perseverance and public service in supporting incorporation of this City and bringing the benefits of local self-government to this area. RESOLVED FURTHER: That this resolution be placed upon the minutes of this meeting and be permanently placed in the records of this City, as a lasting tribute to the organizations that have contributed so greatly to the achievement of cityhood for the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.
