CC RES 1974-071 RESOLUTION NO. 74-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOUTH BAY JUVENILE DIVERSION PROJECT AND AGREEING TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS : Section 1 . The City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby declares its intention to participate in the South Bay Juvenile Diversion Project to be funded in part from funds available through the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, PL 90- 355, as amended, PL 91-644 , (hereinafter referred to as the Safe Streets Act) administered by the California Council on Criminal Justice . Section 2 . The City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby joins in the application of Redondo Beach, as sponsoring agency, to the California Council on Criminal Justice , for grant and proposed Grant Award Contract for Law En- forcement Purposes including any extensions or amendments thereof. Section 3. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes will provide its proportionate share of all matching funds required for said project (including any extension or amendment thereof) under the Safe Streets Act and the rules and regulations of the California Council on Criminal Justice and will appropriate the necessary funds as required thereby, subject to the further approval of the Council as to the amount. Section 4. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes , together with the City of Redondo Beach and the other South Bay Cities , will continue the grant project for a period after the expiration of the grant project only on the condition that the project is effective in reducing the rate of recidivism of juvenile delinquents or by increasing the diversion rate by ten percent. Section 5 . The funds received from said grant , if any, shall not be used to supplant on-going law enforcement expenditures .
