CC RES 1974-041 RESOLUTION NO. 74-41 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY PLAN FOR DISTRIBUTION OF MONIES MADE AVAILABLE BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT SERVICES IN THE FIELD OF ALCOHOLISM INCLUDE THE SOUTH BAY COMMUNITY. WHEREAS, the State of California has recently made available monies for the development of services in the field of alcoholism, including pre- vention and education services, expansion of information and referral service, day care, recovery Home and employee counseling; and WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles will determine the allocation and distribution of certain of said funds for the development of much-needed services, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the City of Rancho Palos Verdes joins with its neighboring cities of the South Bay community to urge the County of Los Angeles to give full and thoughtful consideration to the need for new services in the field of alcoholism in this area, and that the County Board of Supervisors encourage the Department of County Health Services to develop in this region the services made possible by State funding for this purpose. SECTION 2: That a copy of this resolution shall be transmitted to County Supervisor James A. Hayes, representative of the Fourth County Supervisorial District, with a respectful request that he call to the attention of his colleagues this region's equal need for a fair share of services to combat a serious and growing social and economic problem.
