A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
ESTABLISHING POSITION CLASSIFICATIONS
AND SALARY RANGES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
AND ADOPTING CERTAIN SALARY INCREASES
FOR REGULAR, FULLTIME CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS , the City of Rancho Palos Verdes desires to
implement certain salary increases for regular, fulltime City
personnel; and
WHEREAS , the City of Rancho Palos Verdes desires to
establish a new position classification within the regular ,
fulltime City personnel designations;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho
Palos Verdes does resolve and order as follows:
Section 1. The sum of nineteen thousand dollars
( $19 ,000 . 00) has been provided in the City' s 1975-1976 budget
for salary increases for regular , fulltime City employees,
excluding the City Manager , to be awarded during the salary
year September 1 , 1975 through August 31 , 1976.
Section 2 . The City Manager is authorized to award
an increase of not less than five percent (5%) but not more
than seven percent (7% ) of the regular monthly salary of regular ,
fulltime City employees appearing on the payroll on August 31,
1975 , excluding the City Manager , Director of Planning, Public
Works Director , Administrative Services Officer, Community
Services Officer, and Administrative Assistant, such increases
to become effective, if at all , on September 1, 1975; provided
that salary increases shall be awarded only to City employees
who have been certified by the City Manager as meriting the
increase, based upon appraisal of department goals, achievement
records and periodic merit review of individual performance.
Section 3 . The City Manager is authorized to award
an increase of not less than five percent (5% ) , but not more
than eight percent ( 8% ) of the regular monthly salary of the
Director of Planning, Public Works Director, Administrative
Services Officer , Community Services Officer , and Administra-
tive Assistant (hereafter "management group" ) , such salary
increases to become effective, if at all, on September 1, 1975;
provided, that salary increases shall be awarded only to such
members of the management group who have been certified by the
City Manager as meriting the increase, based upon appraisal
of department goals, achievement records and periodic merit
review of individual performance.
Section 4 . The City Manager is authorized to award
a subsequent increase of not more than eight percent ( 8% ) of
the regular monthly salary of regular , fulltime City employ-
ees appearing on the payroll on August 31, 1975, excluding
the City Manager , such salary increases to become effective,
if at all, on February 1 , 1976 , for the management group,
or on the employment anniversary date for other regular fulltime
employees, provided that salary increases shall be awarded
only to City employees who have been certified by the City
Manager as meriting the increase, based upon appraisal of
department goals, achievement records and periodic merit review
of individual performance.
Section 5 . The aggregate of all monthly salary in-
creases awarded to any individual regular, fulltime City
employee during the year September 1, 1975, through August 31 ,
1976 , shall not exceed thirteen percent (13% ) of the individual ' s
regular monthly salary as of August 31 , 1975. No individual
employee ' s regular monthly salary, including increases autho-
rized by this Resolution, shall exceed the upper limit of the
salary range for the employee ' s job description specified in
Section 8 of this Resolution.
Section 6 . The City Manager ' s monthly salary shall
be increased by two hundred and fifty dollars ( $250. 00) per
month, to a total of two thousand four hundred and twenty dol-
lars ($2 ,420 . 00) per month, such salary increase to become
effective September 1, 1975.
Section 7 . The job position classification entitled
"Administrative Assistant/Treasurer" is hereby established;
the Administrative Assistant/Treasurer shall report and be
responsible to the City Manager.
Section 8 . The salary ranges for all regular , full-
time City employees in authorized job position classifications
are hereby established as set forth in Exhibit "A" (attached) .
Section 9 . Resolution No. 74-10 of the City Council
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes is hereby repealed.
