CC RES 1975-063 RESOLUTION NO. 75-63 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES ESTABLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL RULES AND PROCEDURES COVERING THE. APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSION MEMBERS AND. CHAIRPERSONS. WHEREAS , the City. Council of the City. of Rancho Palos Verdes has determined a requirement for establishing definite rules and procedures covering the appointment of members and chairpersons of commissions; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes has determined that said rules and procedures can best be established by setting them forth in a duly adopted City Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Commissions. The City Council shall appoint such commissions as it may find necessary. Section 2. Composition. Each commission shall be composed of five (5) members, unless the Council determines that a greater or lesser number is appropriate. Section 3. Appointment of Members. The City Council members shall nominate commission members. Each nomination shall be confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council. Section 4 . Chairperson. The City Council shall appoint the chairperson of all commissions. Section 5 . Term of Office. The term of office of each commission member shall normally be for two years and shall expire at the second meeting after the municipal election. Section 6. Appointments Filling Vacancies. The City Council shall nominate and appoint a new member to a commission to fill a vacancy that occurs prior to the expiration date of a former member. Section 7 . Commission members shall only be removed by a majority vote of the City Council. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 26th day of August , 1975 . ATTEST: CITY CL RK i
